Albania and Turkey signed 7 agreements on Monday during a joint press conference between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The two leaders praised the close ties between the two countries, especially in the economic sector.

What did the two leaders agree to?

• Memorandum of Understanding between the directorate of the state archive of Turkey and the general directorate of Albanian state archive.
• Memorandum of Understanding in the youth and sports sector between the two respective ministries.
• Memorandum of Cooperation between state-run news agency Anadolu and the Albanian Telegraphic Agency.
• Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of law enforcement training between the Government of Turkey and Albania.
• Memorandum of Understanding in the field of disaster management between the Emergency Directorate and the Turkish Interior Ministry.
• Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on protocol cooperation.
• A cooperation protocol between the General State Directorate of Opera and Ballet and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and the Opera and Ballet Ensemble of Albanian folklore.

Erdogan urges “decisive measures” against FETO

After signing the agreements, Erdogan called on Albania to take concrete steps against the FETO organization operating in the country.

The FETO organization, known also as the Gulenist Movement named after U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, has been formally accused by the Turkish government as the main organizer behind the failed coup that took place in 2016.

“Our most sincere expectation is that in the period ahead we will take more concrete steps, decisive and quick steps against the structuring of FETO in Albania,” said Erdogan.
