The estimated number of active COVID-19 infections in the Albanian capital, Tirana climbed to 10,161 on Monday.

The country reported 1,017 new cases, of which over 600 were detected in the capital.

Despite the soaring new cases, hospital admissions remain relatively low with 116 patients receiving medical care at the hospital.

More than 209,455 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Albania.

3,271 is the official death toll from the virus, according to a tally kept by national health authorities.
