The majority of Albanians believe that when it comes to the incinerators’ trial if proof of corrupt practices can be presented in court, the government should resign.
In Barometer’s latest poll, 42% of Albanians believe the government should resign if the concession proves to have been corrupt. Around 40% think the opposite – that the government, shouldn’t in fact resign.
Albanians are split when it comes to the question of whether or not PM Edi Rama was aware of the fact that Lefter Koka was involved in corrupt practices with the incinerators’ concession.
Around 36% said that PM Rama was in on the abuse the entire time, whereas 38% think that he wasn’t aware of it.
More than half of Albanians think that Lefter Koka was aware of the investigation that was launched against him, which is why he resigned and abandoned his MP mandate.
When asked about whether or not his resignation was related to the incinerators’ affair, 53% of respondents said yes, whereas around 20% said no.
Results were retrieved through 1.000 in-person household conversations conducted on a national scale from January 13-24, 2022.
