Parliament has denied president Ilir Meta’s claims of document falsification and manipulation, which were deposited today at the Constitutional Court, prior to them issuing an official verdict on his impeachement.
In a press statement, the Albanian Parliament has maintained that under the present circumstances, when the Constitutional justices have retired, prior to their official deliberation, they have decided to remain silent and refrain from making any additional comments.
“As it pertains to the claims made today by president Meta, on manipulation or falsification, we take full responsibility in declaring that such claims are baseless,” – reads the official reaction from Parliament.
Earlier today, the presidency deposited a list of documents at the Special Prosecution, Tirana’s District Prosecution, and the General Prosecution, which allegedly prove the Parliament’s involvement in forging administrative documents during the process of Meta’s impeachment.
President Meta also confirmed that today, he has signed an official lawsuit against high-ranking state officials, who he claims are responsible for falsifying these documents at the request of the Albanian Parliament.
