SPAK has asked the Special District Court to call off investigations against the ex-attorney general, Adriatik Llalla.

After the court sentenced him to 2 years in prison, Adriatik Llalla continues to be under investigation due to him not declaring his wealth.

Llalla’s defense argues that SPAK’s request comes as a result of the fact that their client has already been tried for this offense.

Llalla was arrested in Rome back in December 2021.

He was declared guilty on counts of ‘hiding personal wealth’ for the purpose of constructing an additional floor in a building at the Elbasan St. in Tirana, in addition to not declaring the monetary worth of his daughter’s expenses while studying abroad and his son’s birth in the US.

So far, authorities have seized 4 real estate properties in the suburbs of Tirana and an apartment in Durres registered in Llalla’s name.

The former attorney general is the first high-ranking official in the justice system to be given a prison sentence.

In 2018, he was also included in the non-grata list of the U.S. Department of State.
