The High Judicial Inspectorate (ILD) has called for a disciplinary measure to be issued against 2 district prosecutors in Lezhe, Milan Laskaj and Francesk Ganaj.
The latter, according to ILD, have stalled investigations against 21-year-old Aldi Rama, who shot and killed officer Saimir Hoxha last year.
ILD claims that a late submission of criminal proceedings in court that called for the suspect’s imprisonment, became the main cause for Rama’s sentence to change from ‘prison arrest’ to ‘house arrest’.
Officer Saimir Hoxha was shot and killed by Aldi Hoxha in Lezha Island, during a patrol that targeted the cultivation of cannabis plants.
In 2018, Aldi Rama had been sentenced to 5 years in prison under larceny charges and the possession of narcotics. The court reevaluated the verdict, after taking into consideration Rama’s living circumstances, and converted his sentence to probation services.
