There will be no full-fledged war between Russia and Ukraine, according to the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Albania, Bled Bajraktari.
Bajraktari was confident on this, although Ukraine is surrounded by Russian military troops.
“We have Belarus in the north, an ally of Russia. In the south, we have Crimea, annexed by Russia. But I can’t refer to this as a threat for a war”, he said on Now with Erla Mehilli.
He said that the countries maintained friendly ties, that came to an end in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.
“Their brotherhood received a crack when Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. That is why Ukraine took measures to reform its army with assistance from Europe and NATO”, explained Bajraktari.
The honorary consul also maintained that Ukraine’s aspiration to join NATO deepened Russia’s hostility.
According to Albanian diplomat, Lisien Bashkurti, Russia’s Vladimir Putin was confronted by a massive reaction from the West.
“A positive element was displayed in strengthening unity and solidarity among Western actors in their approach toward Russia. This immense diplomatic pressure was one of the main factors that forced Putin to withdraw. But that has a tactical characteristic, going into the offensive is a strategic move”, said Bashkurti.

He added that President Putin and the Russian Federation “will not renounce from Ukraine and Georgia for a long time”.
“Putin wants to have total control over the Azov Sea and enhance his domination on the Black Sea”, added the diplomat, explaining that this type of geopolitics is vital for Russia if it wants to become a global power.
