Incinerator workers in the waste recycling and processing warehouse in Elbasan are protesting this Friday because they haven’t been paid in 2 months.
They say that they are undergoing economic hardships and their income is the only way to get by.
“It’s been 2 months that we’re working days and nights. They’re not paying us and they’re threatening us by saying that if we go out to protest, they’ll fire us,” – said one of the workers.
In addition, another worker declared that he is facing extreme economic difficulties because he hasn’t received his payroll in 2 months and can’t pay his loan.

“I’ve taken out a loan. It’s been 2 weeks since my last deadline. We need the money, we need our wages and we’re demanding our rights,” – he said.
Klodian Zoto and Stela Gugallja – both of them accused of being the heads of the incinerator scandal in Elbasan – are on the run and have been declared international fugitives by SPAK.
Meanwhile, investigations are underway for the 2 incinerators, the one in Fier and the one in Tirana.
