Mamuka Mamulashvili, a commander of the Legion of Foreign Volunteers in Ukraine, says that so far there are only two Albanians that have joined the fight against Russia.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, he says they are expecting around 30 Albanians who had applied to join the war through social media.
“There are two Albanian volunteers fighting with us. They came here to help Ukrainians defend their country. They arrived after the conflict broke out. There have been some 20-30 applications from Albania, but they haven’t arrived, yet”.
The commander of the Legion of Foreign Volunteers says that none of the volunteers is on a payroll, but they all reached out to fight for democracy and defend Ukraine from the Russian genocide.
“The Russians are intentionally slaughtering women and children”, he said.
He said that there have been no casualties from his group although they’ve been shelled dozens of times.
Mamulashvili claims Russia is using ballistic missiles and targeting civilian areas.
He has been fighting in Ukraine since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.
