Today marks the 18th day of fighting in Ukraine, since the Russian president Vladimir Putin, went on air to announce that he would be undertaking a ‘special military operation’ against Ukrainian territories on Feb 24.
Updates from March 13:
- Russian airstrikes attacked one of the largest military bases near the western city of Lviv, which is located near the Polish border.
- Blasts were heard during the early morning hours on Sunday in the outskirts of this strategic city in Western Ukraine.
- Meanwhile, Russia has also warned that it could attack the weapon supplies being sent to Ukraine by foreign states, thus increasing the risk of a direct confrontation between Moscow and NATO.
- On Saturday, bombings were heard in Kyiv, while Russian forces continue to widen their attack against the Ukrainian capital, by slowly advancing through infantry attacks on the ground combined with targeted airstrike assaults from the city’s north-eastern and eastern borders.
Satellite images posted by CNN, also confirmed massive destruction in the city of Makarov, located around 48 km to the west of Kyiv.
