DP chairman Lulzim Basha has appointed a lobbyist to mediate the internal conflict within DP.

Sources have told Euronews Albania that Elmar Brok – the former chair of the European Parliament Committee of Foreign Affairs – arrived in Tirana last night to assist Basha with the crisis within DP.

On Wednesday, Brok dined with Lulzim Basha, and yesterday he had a meeting with Sali Berisha.

Meanwhile, today he will meet with Jozefina Topalli, and tomorrow, he’s planned meetings with MPs that have openly come out against Basha.

Brok has told both sides that Basha is in favor of holding a single electoral process with the Democratic Party, but he has asked to remain DP’s chairman and manage the elections.

This proposal has already been refuted by Sali Berisha and members of his DP faction.

Brok works as a lobbyist for Basha since the April 2021 elections. He has served as an MEP from 1980 to 2019.
