PM Rama came out with an announcement earlier today, saying that Monday, March 21, will be an off-day along with Tuesday, which is a national holiday.
The Council of Ministers argued that since the weekend and Tuesday are considered official days off, Monday would be added too, leading to a long weekend for hundreds of thousands of employees.
Rama also said that the reason for this is to save on energy because, for 4 days in a row, public administration workers won’t use any electricity.
Journalist Bardhi Sejdarasi was invited to talk about this recent decision on Euronews Albania.
According to him, this is a logical solution because this way, we can at least save up on energy for a total of 4 days.
“The entire public system will be focused on consuming the bare minimum,” – said Sejdarasi.
In addition, Rama said that Monday is always being considered to be turned into a carless day, so we can start saving on oil as well, but this has yet to receive a formal confirmation.
Sejdarasi added that this could be part of a long-term plan: to make one day a week a day when no driving will be allowed.
“We are faced with a major lack of products in our market and these are just some of the measures we can take,” – said Sejdarasi.
