Numerous police forces have started an intervention against protestors that had been standing before the PM’s Office since early Saturday morning.
Their goal is to disperse protestors that gathered today for the 8th rally against price hikes and what they’ve been calling grave mismanagement of the global oil crisis by the Albanian government.
Protestors had been standing at Tirana’s Main Boulevard that faces the entrance of the PM’s Office, since early this morning, when they had also promised to continue this protest for the next 24 hours.
After forming a large cordon, police officers tried to forcefully push away protestors who started chanting: ‘Away with this dictatorship!’
The protest started at Skanderbeg square where citizens got together and marched towards the PM’s Office, where they will make their remarks.
Police officers have been deployed in several different areas in the capital city and are closely monitoring the situation. So far, no incidents have been registered, but police did make several arrests.
PM Rama on the other hand has continued his mocking of the citizens getting together in these protests. According to him, they are just looking to stir up a commotion and they should feel ashamed of themselves.
