Alqi Bllako announced on Tuesday evening that he will renounce his post as a member of parliament.
The move comes after the Special Anti-Corruption Structure released an arrest warrant against the Socialist Party’s MP in connection to the Fier waste incinerator affair.
In a message shared on his Facebook page, Bllako expressed his disbelief in SPAK’s request but added that he is determined to confront justice without being shielded by the privileges bestowed on members of parliament.
“I have decided to submit to the Speaker of the Assembly on Wednesday my mandate as a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania, and confront the indictment without any privileges”, he wrote.
