Sali Berisha said on Wednesday ‘no one has the right to appoint the leader of the Democratic Party’, apart from its members.

His statement came after US Ambassador Yuri Kim recognized Enkelejd Alibeaj as the acting leader of the Democrats.

“Except for the members of the Democratic Party, no one, be that the Governor, Zeus, or Rama has a right the appoint the leader of the Democratic Party”, Berisha said.

During his word, Berisha refused to recognize Alibeaj as the legitimate leader, referring to him instead as the head of the parliamentary party.

Berisha asserted that the executive council is the decision-making body of the parliamentary party, but added that the Refoundation Commission may interfere on special occasions.

“The Refoundation Commission may interfere on special cases, but our objective is clear, that is our opponent Edi Rama”, said the former DP leader.
