Kosovo’s government has paved the way for the increase of the country’s national minimum wage to €250 euros.

This was achieved earlier today through the approval of a draft bill that prescribes all the different procedures required to determine the national minimum wage, reports Kosova Press.

During his press statement, PM Albin Kurti said that around 100 thousand employees will be benefiting from this decision. In addition, he confirmed that income tax for this particular group will also be amended.

The minister of finances, Hekuran Murati also announced that moving forward, the minimum wage will be changed depending on the country’s economic growth.

In addition, inflation in Kosovo has now reached 10% as of March 2022.

According to a report by ASK, the rise in inflation can be explained by the rise in consumer prices for goods and services due to the global crisis and the war in Ukraine.
