Interior minister Xhelal Svecla announced that police in northern Kosovo have suffered an attack this morning.

Through an extraordinary press conference, Svecla told journalists that police officers had been attacked with hand grenades and rifles, when they were changing shifts at the border checkpoint.

Svecla compared this to a terrorist attack, while saying that it was mostly probably done to scare police officers and citizens.

“Today, at around 07:40, we witnessed an attack against Kosovo police officers who were switching their shifts at the border crossings. This attack was executed through a hand grenade and an AK 47 rifle, just like a terrorist act that was done intentionally to scare our citizens and police,” – he said.

In addition, Svecla announced that different groups in the past 3 days have committed similar attacks against the Kosovo Police.

Nobody was hurt, but collateral damage has been registered.
