Head of SP’s parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, declared that when it comes to the election of the new president, there will only be negotiations with parliamentary groups that are part of the Albanian parliament.
Balla emphasized that there the Refoundation Commission – led by former PM Sali Berisha – isn’t officially recognized as a parliamentary group, which is why their proposals for president won’t be taken into consideration.
“I don’t know that there is a parliamentary group in the Albanian Parliament called the Refoundation Commission. The consultation process will continue within the Albanian Parliament,” – said Balla.
The Socialist Party has asked the Parliament Speaker, Lindita Nikolla, to hold the first round for the election of the new president on May 4.
Balla said that from tomorrow until April 29, negotiations will take place for the appointment of a ‘consensual president’.
SP has 74 MPs in Parliament which isn’t enough to elect the president during the first 3 rounds.
