In an interview for the German press Die Welt, Albania’s PM Edi Rama said that the Western Balkan region is “defenseless” from Russian influence which is why there’s an added risk for instability.
“The region is defenseless because Russian influence is very powerful, not in Albania, but in Bosnia, Montenegro, and especially in Serbia,” – said Rama.
When asked if Albania will change its stance in regards to Serbia’s pro-Russian tendency, Rama said that he would have interrupted his cooperation if Serbia would come out against the West at the UN.
“Serbia isn’t moving towards Russia. On the contrary, in a strange way, it sided with the West when it comes to denouncing Russia’s aggression at the UN General Assembly. It is a very good sign that Serbia voted 3 times against Russia. If Serbia would have done the opposite, it would have been a major blow for our cooperation,” – said Rama.
