The government has expressed the need to attract more tourists as one of its main goals for this upcoming summer season.

With this intention, Albania will be lifting its tourist visa requirements for tourists coming from the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, India, Russia and Thailand.

“They are potential clients that will continue their tours in Albania, starting from May 1 – December 31,” – said minister Kumbaro.

The offer for tourists from these nations has just been open. These 8 countries have a combined population of 1.8 billion citizens, but will they answer the call inviting them to spend their vacation in our country?

“It is just a decision on paper, it won’t do any damage but I don’t think we’ll receive an extraordinary number of requests from these nations,” – said Kliton Gerxhani, tourist consultant.

Tourist visas have also been lifted for Russian citizens even though our political relations are currently on standby due to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.

“Russians aren’t thinking of going to Turkey – which is their main destination, let alone Albania,” – he added.

Last year, a total of 9.6 million visitors entered Albania. They spend 1.9 billion euros.

However, the best year in terms of tourism in Albania remains 2019.
