Security expert and criminologist Fatjon Softa warned on Friday that a new type of synthetic cannabinoid, known in the streets as Bonsai, is now being sold in Albania.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Softa raised the alarm about the dangers brought by this new drug.

“These are very dangerous drugs. Apart from dependency, it may also cause death”, the expert said.

Softa explained that the consumption of synthetic cannabinoids has a detrimental effect on the nervous system.

He also added that the drug can be easily foune on the internet and shipped to Albania.

Softa also spoke about the cultivation of indoor cannabis. He explained that traffickers are mainly from Shkodra, Lezha and Kruja.

According to the expert, cannabis farms are mainly located in urban areas, but the police have also discovered cannabis grown in bunkers.

He added that oftentimes, police officers are involved in this criminal activity.

But on the other hand, police have a hard time discovering cannabis farms as traffickers use advanced technological devices.
