After Kosovo and Serbia failed to reach an agreement on license plates, a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Aleksandar Vucic is being seen as highly necessary.

The meeting could find a way out of the deadlock and pave the way to a final agreement.

Meanwhile, experts on the dialogue said that this is the right momentum for a Kurti-Vucic meeting in the presence of the US envoy for the talks.

Political expert Artan Muhaxhiri says that only a high-level meeting could yield hope in reaching any deal.

“Only a meeting between PM Kurti and President Vucic could give hope in reaching an agreement that could benefit citizens, but also Kosovo’s European agenda”, he says.

Despite two days of negotiations in April, Kosovo and Serbia did not find a common language on license plates.

The temporary sticker regime will continue until the two parties sign a permanent deal.
