German journalist Michael Martens said that Kosovo could soon join the European Council.
In an article for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), Martens said that Kosovo is planning to apply to join the European Council after the French presidential elections.
According to him, with the exclusion of Russia from this insititution, Belgrade’s campaign against Prishtina seems less promising.
In the plenum session held on April 12, PM Albin Kurti said that Kosovo would be applying to several international organizations this year, like the European Council and the European Union.
The European Council suspended Russia’s membership on February 25, one day after its invasion of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, on March 15, Russia decided to leave the European Council, by preceding a possible expulsion from the biggest organization in the continent, when it comes to the protection of human rights.
