Albania aims to become a key supplier of liquid gas in the entire Balkan region, by making it possible for the entire country to be energy independent in a few years.

This is what the deputy minister of energy and infrastructure, Ilir Bejtja, said during Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’.

In addition, he added that the agreement made possible by ALBGAZ and the ministry of energy and infrastructure with two very important US companies operating in liquid gas, is an ambitious effort in the creation of a new alternative energy source for our country.

“Liquid natural gas is a primary source of energy, just like all other sources. Contracted companies are giants in the sector involved in the construction of electricity-producing TEC-s. Today, was an important day in the gas sector. It will have a great impact on the supply of electricity in the entire country. In the near future, it will allow us to no longer just be importers of energy and instead ensure that we are able to meet 100% of our domestic energy needs”.
