The president with the best approval rating amongst Albanian citizens in the past 30 years, is Alfred Moisiu (31.7%).

Moisiu was followed by Bamir Topi (17.9%), Rexhep Meidani (16%), Sali Berisha (11.8%), Bujar Nisani (7.7%) and the current president Ilir Meta (2.9%), who was also last.

Nearly 90% of respondents believe that Ilir Meta shouldn’t be proposed by the opposition to be re-elected as head of state for a second mandate.

Less than 4% want the opposition to do so.

3 in 5 Albanians (59.6%) are against Ilir Meta’s return to the leadership of the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI).

1 in 5 Albanians (19.6%) are in favour of Meta being re-elected as the head of SMI and 20.8% are neutral or indifferent.

Findings were retrieved for Euronews Albania’s Barometer by MRB and Data Centrum, through in-person conversations conducted on a national scale from April 25- March 5.
