Young painter from Durres, David Kryemadhi, could be the only artist in Albania who is experimenting with paintings, portraits, and sketches with coffee.
But how was this idea born?
“This idea was born around a decade ago when I was a student in the art academy of Milan, and it came naturally as I was experimenting with different materials and forms of art,” – said Kryemadhi.
The process of making these paintings with coffee is characterized by its own difficulties.
“Coffee is very similar to watercolors, and there are certain difficulties when it comes to how they are treated and applied because it can’t be spread around and equilibrated like other materials,” – he added.
Kryemadhi told Euronews Albania that along with coffee paintings, he also creates graphic novels using this very method.
“It’s obvious that the market isn’t equal to the European one because here, there’s an evident lack of art marketing,” – said the artist.
Therefore, until his fellow citizens start to embrace this kind of art, Kryemadhi will continue to paint for a foreign market.
