Democrat MP Albana Vokshi said on Monday that her colleagues who refused to attend the April 30 National Assembly cannot keep an entire party hostage by demanding under-the-table trade-offs.
For ‘Now’ on Euronews Albania, Vokshi said that these parliamentarians are not following the “will or the wishes” of the members of the Democratic Party.
“Practically, these MPs are not following the will of the party’s members and are disrespecting their own desire to have a unified party”, Vokshi said.
“The goal of the April 30 Assembly was to reconnect. The fact that these MPs want to negotiate, or do under-the-table trade-offs, cannot stop the Democratic Party from electing its new leadership. MP’s cannot keep a party hostage, a political party in need of restructuring on all levels”, she added.
Vokshi also added that this was the first time that the members picked their executives based on the principle of one-member-one-vote.
