Euronews Albania has procured video footage from the custody room where Ilvi Meta is suspected to have taken his own life.
The 31-year-od had been taken into custody over suspicions of theft, and according to police, he ended his own life by using a string from his hoodie.
Based on preliminary evidence, Meta is suspected to have used the iron bars in his custody room to hang himself.
The Ombudsperson said that the placement of horizontal bars at a height over 60 cm isn’t allowed according to official guidelines.
The serious incident took place on Wednesday night at Kavaja’s Police station.
Family members said that Meta didn’t take his own life like it was officially declared.
They accuse the police of killing him.
