Russian ambassador to Serbia, Alexandr Bocan Kharchenko declared that there aren’t and there won’t be any changes in regards to Russia’s stance on Kosovo’s independence.
Kharchenko told the Serbia press ‘Politika’ that Russia won’t recognize Kosovo.
“It’s not our practice to comment on our president’s statement. But when it comes to this sensitive topic, I will say that there aren’t and there won’t be any changes to the Russian Federation’s stance when it comes to Kosovo. We don’t recognize Kosovo and we actively support Belgrade in all international forums, especially the United Nations Security Council. Every claim being made that the Russian stance on the matter has somehow changed are only being made with the intention of hurting relations between Moscow and Belgrade,” -said the ambassador.
On April 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin compared Kosovo to the 2 separatist nations of Ukraine, namely Donetsk and Luhansk – known as the Donbas region.
Along with Serbia, Russia is one of the countries that doesn’t recognize Kosovo as an independent state.
