Thaci from Special Court: I’m innocent, accusations against me are incomprehensible

Former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, appeared before court this Tuesday, during the subsequent session of the Special Court of The Hague.

After April 29, 2022, the Office of the Special Prosecutor submitted the altered version of the formal accuse againt Thaci.

During his word, Thaci said that he hadn’t read the new accuse because they were edited and he couldn’t understand them. After, he reiterated his stance that he was innocent.

“Your honour, as I emphasized one more time, your additional amendments are revised, I need to read them again as I haven’t understood them. I declare that I am innocent,” – said Thaci.

Today, e separate session will be held for the other former leaders of the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army), Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

Since November 2020, they have been in prison in The Hague and all of them have pleaded innocent to the accusations raised against them.

In the official documents presented at The Hague Special Chambers, it says that the reason for their accusation was taking away the freedom of at least 12 people during the period from July 4, 1998 – April 29, 1999.

They are also being accused of committing crime wars from March 1998 – to September 1999.
