The Albanian government declared after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that it intends to lease to a concessionary firm the Vlora Triport.
The latest development was confirmed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.
Minister Balluku said this will bring new services to the port, which today is mainly for fishing.
“It will be the newest modern port, which will be an integrated port, as today it only has fishing services. It is one of the best contracts we’ve signed so far”, Balluku said.
The infrastructure minister explained that the state will begin to pay the due amount when the project is finished and the port begins operations.
“With the revenue generated by this port, we will start to pay the costs of the project. Until then, the Albanian government will not have any financial obligations”, concluded Balluku.
