Over 15 000 new cars have entered our country over the past 4 months.

In most cases, they have been imported from Italy and Germany.

More than half are 13-17 years old.

Albanians have a hard time giving up on cars, despite the heavy traffic and oil prices.

Over 15 000 new cars were registered for the first time during the first 4 months of 2022.

Over 11 000 were imported mainly from Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. Only 473 were bought new.

Based on official records, until April, Albanians spend €3.3 million euros in total on cars.

Oil-burning vehicles seem to continue to be the trend in Albania. Brands like Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Ford and Toyota are among the most popular for Albanian drivers.

Another concerning issue continues to be the fact that more than half of all cars currently in circulation in our country are 13-17 years old.

5% are even older whereas 40% were produced from 2010 and onwards.

Official data shows that cars continue to be the leading cause of environmental pollution in Albania.
