While bidding farewell to former president Bujar Nishani, DP leader Sali Berisha teared up in an emotional speech during today’s funeral ceremony.
Berisha was the first to speak during the ceremony for the former head of state, during which he commended Nishani as a politician and a man with great values, whilst sharing his pain that he had to pass so soon, which is when Berisha had to briefly stop his remarks after not being able to hold back his tears.
“You will forever remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I want to express my deep gratitude to your family and all of those who did everything they could to stop today’s outcome. May you rest in peace. Our dear friend, may the earth be light on you, farewell,” – said Berisha.
Nishani was accompanied to his last resting place through a national ceremony. Homages in his honor were held for 2 hours at the Presidential Building. Today was also declared a National Day of Mourning in honor of the former president.
