Former Socialist MP Ervin Bushati said during Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’ that as we speak, 95% of small businesses – or even regular citizens – don’t pay sales tax.

According to Bushati, this is a widely accepted philosophy of the left in Albania, while adding that at this point, he feels that the actions of the right at this point, are senseless.

In addition, Bushati said that the messages forwarded by the right – like ‘the government is failing’ – don’t hold a real threat.

In regards to the current laws on businesses in Albania, Bushati said that they haven’t changed often but as is common around the world, with crises comes changes.

“The Socialist Party’s logic on progressive taxation hasn’t changed. I, myself have stated that for me, progressivity in a country like Albania should be extended even further,” – said the former Socialist MP.
