The chair of Korça Regional Bar Association Arben Lena announced the beginning of a 4-day strike on Tuesday.

Lena said the move is to defy the decision of the High Judicial Council (KLGJ).

“This decision runs counter to access to justice that everyone is entitled to. We stress the determination of Korca’s attorneys. If they won’t reflect until Friday, the steering committee will make another move. All lawyers are in unison”, said Lena.

President of the National Chamber of Advocacy of Albania Maksim Haxhia said that starting from Tuesday, lawyers will boycott every court hearing on a national scale, except for cases when the judge has to read out a prison sentence.

13 first instance courts, 2 administrative courts, and 1 appeal court in the country.

This was the final proposal of the High Judicial Council on the new judicial map after months of consultation with interest groups.
