EU’s Commissioner on Enlargement and Neighborhood, Oliver Varheyli, said that today is a historical day for the EU and Albania.
“I believe that if there’s anything wise, we can say about Albania is that strategic patience has finally paid off,” – he said while commending Rama and his administration for the good work.
According to Varhelyi, the conference marks a milestone and opens a new chapter for the relations between Albania and the European Union.
“In this new phase that is very demanding, I believe that Albania will intensify its efforts in order to attain a complete harmonization of all integration criteria,” – said the diplomat.
This Tuesday, the First Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the European Union took place in Brussels.
Today, PM Edi Rama, minister Olta Xhacka and the Chief Negotiator Zef Mazi, held a political meeting for the opening of negotiations in the European Council building.
