Euronews Albania journalist Kosove Gjoci was hit with a can from the balcony of an apartment in North Mitrovica, while he was reporting on the situation there.

The video of the report shows the moment when the journalist turns his head after being hit with a bottle.

At the time of the incident, he was accompanied by his colleague from Kosovo, the photographer of “Zëri” newspaper and Reuters news agency, Laura Hasani.

This Monday, the situation appears calm in North Mitrovica, compared to the previous day.

However, in the center of the city of Mitrovica there is a banner that reads: “Welcome to the community of Serbian municipalities”.

Meanwhile, the roads leading to the Bernjak and Jarinje border points continue to be blocked with cars and trucks.

Even the border points are closed, where goods can’t pass, this decision was taken by the Kosovo Police, after the tensions of the previous day.

The Government of Kosovo has postponed the decision to equip Serbian citizens with Kosovo documents and license plates in the territory of Kosovo to September 1, 2022.

The decision was taken in the late hours of Sunday evening after the tensions created in the North of Kosovo where Serbian citizens blocked the border points.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, declared that the postponement of the implementation of the decisions on license plates and reciprocity for identity cards is only done on the condition that all barricades are removed from the north of the country and freedom of movement is restored.
