In 2019, the government approved a regulation clearly defining the conditions and criteria for exercising a beach station.

Article 7 defines these safety requirements at every beach station in the country. Section 8 of the law states that the leasing of water motor vehicles is allowed. But the activity must be performed outside the swimming area, at a distance of 300 meters from the shoreline.

But this was not respected by the police officer, Arjan Tase, who drove the motor dinghy into the middle of the beach full of vacationers.

The result was the loss of life of the 7-year-old girl who was hit by the propellers of the boat. Despite Euronews Albania’s inquiry with local police and the district prosecutor, we were not told who owned the boat.
