Ilir Meta and Erion Veliaj clashed today with remote statements on social media about air quality in Tirana.

It was the chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, who, published a photo of Tirana showing the heavy pollution, emphasizing that it is now time for the capital to breathe again.

But Veliaj’s answer also came through social networks. The mayor of Tirana described the photo as old and added that Ilir Meta is nostalgic for the times when he was prime minister and Tirana was suffocated by the smoke coming out of the Kruja quarries.

Today’s clash on social media comes a day after Ilir Meta gathered the structures of the Freedom Party for Tirana, from where he emphasized that the strongest blow to the socialist majority will come from the voters of the capital.

This wasn’t the first exchange between the mayor of Tirana and Ilir Meta where they both accuse each other.
