Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated that he has not discussed with the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, about the formation of a technical government this September.
In a statement to the press from DP’s headquarters, Berisha told Euronews Albania that Prime Minister Edi Rama should leave as soon as possible.
“We have not discussed this yet, but this is our thesis. Edi Rama should leave as soon as possible. After the departure of this administration, of course, the most fundamental task ahead of us is the preparation of a free and fair election. Whether or not a technical government will be appointed or what it will be called, is something that will be decided by the political forces. But the ousting of Edi Rama is an absolute imperative,” Berisha emphasized.
Yesterday, Meta said that in September, when the new parliamentary sessions are set to recommence, the Freedom Party will work to create a technical government.
The former president underlined that the issue of negotiations should be dealt with, as according to him, with the current government, there can be no steps forward in this process.
