Prime Minister Edi Rama declared during today’s Open Balkan summit in Belgrade, that the agreement reached by Kosovo and Serbia, is yet another solution offered by the Open Balkan initiative.

The head of the Albanian government thanked Serbia’s President Alexandar Vucic because, according to Rama, he gave the world an important message, that of peace.

“I want to thank Vucic and everyone else for this fair, which lacked none of the features of any world-famous fairs. We had our own producers attend, as well as producers from many countries. Even the solution to move around with a simple requirement such as ID cards was a solution of the Open Balkan initiative.  Yesterday, I told a journalist that there would have been no need to waste so much time and energy if Kosovo and other countries had also joined Open Balkan. I want to express my respect for the president of Serbia. He wants to materialize this solution and has given a very clear signal to everyone, the first choice is peace,” said Rama.

Last week, Kosovo and Serbia agreed to waive the issue of mandatory entry-exit documents for citizens of both countries. Now, citizens can travel freely using their own government papers. So far, no incidents have been reported at customs checkpoints between the 2 countries.
