Attorney Kreshnik Spahiu claimed that the Democratic Party doesn’t stand a chance of winning the Municipality of Tirana in the upcoming 2023 local elections.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that DP has not won this municipality for many years now and that the fact that the right is already too divided, doesn’t help either.
“I think that the next elections will be a battle for Tirana. If you want political change in 2025, Tirana must change. However, I don’t think that Tirana will change in the 2023 elections, and someone could ask why. It’s been 22 years since the Democrats won the municipality of Tirana.
There is another reason too. The administrative division favors the left because, with the administrative division, the villages surrounding Tirana which voted for the left have now joined the Municipality of Tirana. Considering that we have a fragmented right-wing at the moment, I think that DP’s chances of winning Tirana are zero”, the lawyer emphasized.
