Russia is said to have secretly transferred over $300 million to foreign political parties, leaders and politicians in over 24 countries around the world since 2014.
The news was reported by the BBC, which cites sources of the American administration, who themselves refer to a report of the US intelligence services.
According to this source, Russia had spent around $500,000 to support the Democratic Party of Albania in the 2017 elections while also financing parties or candidates in Bosnia, Montenegro and Madagascar.
In addition, the Kremlin had used Brussels as a hub for foundations and other fronts supporting far-right candidates.
Russian authorities have so far made no public statement on the US claim.
