The Freedom Party MP, Monika Kryemadhi, stated that during the meeting at the CEC with US ambassador, Yuri Kim and other representatives of political parties, no specific names were mentioned in relation to the suspected Russian funding.

During a short statement at the end of the meeting, Kryemadhi said that the investigation into the Russian financing of the Democratic Party should continue.

“No names were mentioned during the meeting. I know that there is a process underway in order to investigate this and investigations will continue. The investigation isn’t only taking place in Albania, but outside Albania as well. Everything that needs to come out will come out.

“Whoever swallowed a spoonful of spoiled soup once in his life, will spew vomit for the rest of his life,” added Kryemadhi.

The meeting of representatives from political parties with ambassador Yuri Kim at the CEC came a day after the news circulated in the press that according to an American intelligence insider, Russia had secretly funded the Democratic Party back in 2017, through a transfer of around $500 thousand dollars.

Lulzim Basha, who was chairman of the Democratic Party at the time, reacted to these claims yesterday by saying that the DP has not received any foreign funding, much less from Russia.
