MPs from the main political forces in the country, SP and DP, are divided regarding the opening of the files of the former State Security during the communist regime.

The show “Today” on “Euronews Albania” has asked some of the MPs, outside the premises of the Albanian Parliament, if they would vote on the law on the opening of these files.

Erion Braçe: Definitely, how did I become an MP without a purity certificate, I am not even old, I am not embarrassed at all about this part.

Dashamir Shehi: When the time comes; now we have another bill.

Jorida Tabaku: Of course, with the same principles that the Democratic Party had in 2008. I think justice is finally needed.

Vangjel Dule: When the moment comes.

Arben Ahmetaj: Does this bother you? I will vote for whatever the Socialist Party votes.

Luciano Boçi: We will introduce the lustration law.

The Socialist and Democratic parties have agreed on the first two initiatives for the files of the former State Security.

The Laws Committee discussed on Wednesday the changes that the Socialists are looking for in the 2015 files law to enable the Files Authority to carry out verifications on people regardless of whether or not they were issued a certificate from the previous “Mezini” and “Bezhani” commissions.
