Prime Minister Edi Rama asked the Council of Europe today, while addressing the General Assembly in Strasbourg, to once and for all, annul Dick Marty’s report.
During his speech, the head of the Albanian government underlined that it is no laughing matter that the Albanians who sacrificed their lives are labeled in the report as members of a dangerous criminal group.
“It is no laughing matter that young people who sacrificed their lives for their country are labeled as members of a dangerous group. It is no laughing matter that Albanians are systematically labeled as inferior people, at a time when they have a loyalty that has developed from a great source of respect for society and politics. It is no laughing matter that the report itself admits that at crucial moments the investigators did not have direct contact with their own sources. Did they base their claims on gossip or what? It is not funny that he admits this in the footnotes, which would have made Franz Kafka and Dostojevks jealous, even though both of them had a vivid imagination”, said Rama.
In addition, Rama supported his claims by arguing that the report was so unfounded that it lacked common sense.
While making mention of the ‘Yellow House’, Rama said that this home belonged to a poor Albanian family, which had no running water, electricity or roads.
“It is one of the many in these deep areas, the village itself, which is located in a very remote area in the north of Albania, which at that time was isolated from roads, the supply of drinking water and energy – that is not the ideal place for operations and interventions of this sort like organ removal. I apologize for having to invite you into this fantasy, but to remove organs in a place without water, without light and without roads, and without specialized equipment, seems less than feasible,” argued Rama.
