The former Minister of Education, Genc Pollo, said in an interview for Euronews Albania that students are supporting their teachers’ protest.

As for the request of the lecturers directed at the government, which includes a salary increase, Pollo argued that there is room for financing, but “[they] want to fill in their own holes before giving money to a group that actually needs it”.

“I think that the students are fully supporting the lecturers’ protest. The future of students will be better when these conditions are fulfilled. This protest is meant to shake the government.

This will be determined by the joined forces in this protest, which will also determine the government’s ultimate decision. Vigorous protests have always ended in success. As for the request for a salary increase, there is definitely room for improvement, but the government will always want to fill its own holes before handing out money to those who need it,” said Pollo.
