During today’s meeting of the Education Commission, minister Evis Kushi, said that during the Socialist Party’s last term in power, teachers’ salaries increased by 32%, whereas by the end of the current term, the government is committed to raising it by a minimum of 40%.
In addition, she added that this year they increased by 6%, and next year they will go up by 7%.
“Teachers deserve more, we increased salaries during our last term despite the earthquake or the pandemic. They increased by 32%. In the current term, we are committed to a 40% increase, next year there will be another increase and until the end of our term, the minimum increase will be 40%. I repeat, teachers deserve more. To assess the quality of our education system we need to continue making certain observations, although there is much to improve. Our curriculum is adapted, and when they go abroad our students do particulary well”, she declared.
