In Albanian families, the most important decisions are made by men. According to the survey conducted by the Barometer in Euronews Albania, 17.6% of respondents think that the decisions to buy household appliances, cars or houses are made by men. Meanwhile, only 11.1% think that this decision is made by the woman. But a large number of Albanians think that the decision to buy household appliances, a car or a house is the same for both.
While when it comes to children’s education, it is women who make more decisions at 21.1% and men at 10.1%. Meanwhile, 67.4% of Albanians think that both decide on children’s education.
The woman in Albanian families has a greater weight in relation to the purchase of food and clothes with 47.4% and the man only 8.7%. While 43.6% of Albanians think that they are the two who decide.
According to this survey, the father is responsible for disciplining the children with 63.8% and only 34.5% think that the mother is responsible.
Albanians also divide children’s education according to gender, saying that boys should be educated by their father and girls by their mother with 44.8%. While 34.4% of the respondents do not agree with this division.
The findings are from the Barometer in Euronews Albania, carried out during the period 9-21 September 2022, conducted by MRB and Data Centrum, at a national level with 1000 face-to-face interviews.
