The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoana, says that the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, remains alert and ready to intervene in case stability is endangered.
Through a post on Twitter, he said that he talked with the special envoy of the European Union for the Western Balkans, Miroslav Lajcak, regarding the situation, as he said, tense in the north of Kosovo.
“Belgrade and Prishtina must show restraint and prevent escalation”, he said.
Meanwhile, Lajcak has said that he fully supports the positions of the NATO official and is grateful for the cooperation of the EU with the North Atlantic Alliance and KFOR.
Their statements come on the day when the Serbian List, the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, has decided to withdraw from all state institutions.
